Dukh Bhanjan UK – A Night of Simran

October 21 @ 18:00 - October 22 @ 00:00 UTC+2

| Free

We cordially invite you to join us at Dukh Bhanjan, a very special Evening of Meditation:

21 October  2017  6pm -12am

Karamsar Gurdwara
400 High Road
Ilford
IG1 1TL

(Please register for Dukh Bhanjan by filling in the form at the bottom of this page.)

Each day, we become disconnected from our true self in bits and pieces as stress and problems build up over time. Surrounded by worries and obstacles, we are unable to break through the endless cycle of pain and suffering. Gradually, we begin to let go of our personal bond with the divine, unable to hold on to that which protects us in our moments of hardship and guides us in the darkest of times.

Dukh Bhanjan is an opportunity to break this cycle and to reconnect to your true self and inner wisdom, to celebrate the sacred gift of life and to let go of past hurts and fears. During this night of continuous meditation we will turn our focus inward and shift our mindset towards positivity, compassion and love.

Rajinder Kaur and senior Raj Academy students will lead through the night, guiding you in a series of meditations, each with a mantra sung in a Raag (a musical mode evoking a specific mood) taken from the sacred scripture Siri Guru Granth Sahib. The sound vibrations will create an open, safe space for you to contemplate, resolve inner conflict and activate healing. We ask each participant to bring one problem to the event, to meditate on during the night in order to release and resolve it.

Dukh Bhanjan is a night of peaceful reflection and a celebration of life in the company of kindred spirits. Each year we come together to sing, meditate and share so that we can face the world again with confidence, clarity and joy.

This is a free event and open to everyone from all over the world, from every spiritual and cultural background.

We ask each participant to plant one tree within a year of this year’s event as a way to give back to the world and support the environment that we share with future generations. If you do not have access to a suitable location to plant a tree, you may find inspiration for organizations to support here.

Information for newcomers:

We ask participants to arrive between 5pm and 5:45pm to register at our stall in the entry hall; we will be happy to answer any questions or queries and help with settling in before the meditation starts.

There will be breaks to rest and have some refreshments, which will be provided. During the meditations, instructions will be given in English, German, French, Spanish and Punjabi.

Please wear light-coloured clothing and a head cover, and in case you freeze easily please bring a shawl with you. On the day of the meditation it is best to eat lightly and have the last meal not later than 5pm.

Participants must be 18 years or older and children below the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please do not attend under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants. Smoking will not be permitted.

If you are visiting a Gurdwara for the first time, please tell us at registration when you arrive. We will fill you in with everything you need to know (it’s not complicated).
