Frequently Asked Questions… about Naad Yoga Diploma

What is the main difference between Naad Yoga Teacher Training and Naad Yoga Diploma?

Naad Yoga Teacher Training (NYTT) consists of three training weekends and a residential week per year in addition to the video lessons, while the Naad Yoga Diploma (NYD) has no compulsory weekends or full weeks. Teaching for the NYD is carried out one-to-one via Skype and in regular assessments with a personal tutor, so students can learn in the comfort of their own homes. Whereas NYTT focuses on training teachers, Naad Yoga Diploma is for everyone who wants to learn the science and art of Naad Yoga and to make it part of their lives.

How long does it take?

The course consists of eight grades, each of which takes a minimum of 12 weeks to complete; you can do them at your own pace. Students can progress to the next grade after finishing all the lessons and passing an assessment by their personal tutor.

Can I teach Naad Yoga after graduating from the course?

Yes, you can give weekly classes or workshops, but you won’t be able to train teachers or run large-scale courses like a NYTT course; for this you need an additional qualification.

Which instruments can I learn?

Saranda, Sarangi, Taus, Dilruba, Rabab and Jori.

Do I have to learn an instrument?

No, you can do the training with a focus on vocal performance only, but in order to support your voice and train your listening, playing tampura is compulsory.

Where can I learn more about the instruments?

For detailed information about the instruments we use and their history, please visit www.sikhsaaj.com

Do I need a laptop and internet connection?

For the course as such you need to be able to watch DVDs – on either a DVD player, computer or laptop – and since there will be sessions via Skype, you should have access to a computer with internet connection and a webcam at least once every two weeks.

Can I join NYTT weekends or the residential weeks?

Yes, you can join any weekend or full week once you have completed the necessary grades. For example, if you have completed Grade 3 you can join NYTT weekends teaching Grades 1 to 3 and the full week for Year One.

These weekends and full weeks are not covered by your payments for the Naad Yoga Diploma course and must be paid for separately.

Can I start with Naad Yoga Diploma and switch to NYTT at a later stage?

Yes, you can, but you will need to complete all weekends that are part of NYTT before your graduation. For example, if you did Grades 1 and 2 as part of NYD and then joined one of the NYTT groups, you would need to attend the weekends for Grades 1 and 2 with one of the other groups before you could graduate.

Can I switch from NYTT to Naad Yoga Diploma?

Yes, you can switch at any time.
