AFFILIATION

Naad Yoga carried well, wherever it is taught.

Affiliation brings the Council into relationship with organisations, institutions, and communities that are helping carry this work forward in their own settings.

WHY AFFILIATES EXIST

The Council was never meant to hold every teaching space itself.

Naad Yoga is carried forward through many hands, in many settings: a studio, a university, a museum, a research institute, a community gathering.

Affiliation is how the Council stays in relationship with those spaces. It recognises meaningful work already being carried, while allowing each organisation to retain its own identity, structure, and independence.

Affiliation is not about ranking organisations. It is about recognising the different ways institutions choose to stand alongside the Council and help carry the tradition forward.
What Affiliation Means

Independent, reciprocal, purposeful.

Affiliation recognises an ongoing relationship with the Naad Yoga Council.
Affiliates remain independent organisations and continue to manage their own programmes, services, governance, and activities.
Affiliation does not imply ownership, exclusivity, accreditation, or blanket endorsement of everything an organisation offers.
What it does signify is a relationship built through shared purpose, meaningful contribution, and continued alignment with the work of the Council.
Affiliation & Recognition

Affiliation is not accreditation.

An organisation’s affiliation with the Council does not automatically confer Council recognition upon its teachers, programmes, trainings, therapies, qualifications, or services.

Council recognition and accreditation follow their own standards and processes.

Affiliation describes a relationship between organisations.

Recognition describes something the Council has independently assessed.

The two may meet, but neither automatically creates the other.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

There is no single way to belong to the Council. Principles of affiliation define what we are seeking for

Alignment

An affiliate’s work should have a genuine relationship to Naad Yoga, the Gurmat traditions of sound, education, research, cultural work, community practice, or another area directly relevant to the Council’s purpose.

Integrity

The organisation’s public work, conduct, and representation of the tradition should be compatible with the Council’s standards and values.

Reciprocity

Affiliation must represent a real relationship. It is not a logo exchange.
Each affiliation should involve some meaningful form of collaboration, contribution, participation, research, community connection, shared learning, or other continuing work.

Independence

Affiliates remain responsible for their own organisations, programmes, services, communications, and decisions.

Clarity

Each affiliation should have a clear purpose and a category that reflects the relationship as it actually exists.

Continuity

Relationships evolve.
Affiliation may grow, change, pause, or conclude as circumstances and shared work develop.

None of these are ranked above another.

Each is simply a different way of showing up.

These are not requirements to clear. They are the shape a real relationship takes.

Current Affiliates

Only categories containing current affiliates are displayed.

Chapters: A Different Relationship

Affiliates stand alongside the Council. Chapters belong within it.

Council chapters form part of the Council’s own international structure.
Affiliates remain independent.
This distinction allows the Council to build meaningful relationships without turning every collaboration into another branch of the institution.
BEGINNING A RELATIONSHIP
Affiliation begins with a conversation.

If your organisation already carries Naad Yoga forward, works within the Gurmat traditions of sound, or is developing meaningful educational, cultural, research, or community work alongside these fields, the Council welcomes a conversation.

Affiliation is not a fixed package.
Each relationship takes shape according to what an organisation brings, what the Council can meaningfully share, and what both are prepared to carry together.
When considering affiliation, the Council looks at the organisation’s work, its relationship to the tradition, the purpose of the proposed affiliation, and the form that continuing collaboration might take.
RELATIONSHIP BEFORE TRANSACTION

Affiliation is not purchased.

Financial support does not create affiliation.

Patronage, membership, sponsorship, and affiliation are different relationships with the Council.

An organisation does not become an affiliate by making a financial contribution, and affiliation does not require purchasing status within the Council.

Affiliation belongs in relationship, not transaction.

Looking Ahead
As relationships grow

The Council’s network of affiliates will grow gradually as genuine relationships develop across education, culture, research, community, and other fields connected to its work.

New categories may emerge as the Council itself evolves.
The architecture will grow around real relationships rather than creating titles in search of organisations to fill them.
Relationships are designed before they are announced.
Independent organisations. Shared responsibility. Enduring relationship.

This page will grow as the Council does, not as a catalogue of names, but as a living map of who is carrying this work forward, where they are carrying it, and how.
